The Dave Richardson Band has created a special recipe for soulful, upbeat, funky music that draws on a base of authentic American Blues. The band can lay down subtle, soulful dance grooves, rip into a hot Texas Blues or venture into a jazzy improvisational jam at the drop of a hat. The consistent factors are incredible energy, a deep rhythmic pocket and maximum audience enjoyment. The band draws on the diversity of each member’s unique musical voice and style.
In his guitar playing, founder, Dave Richardson draws on a mixture of classic blues guitar influences including BB King, Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn. When not cranking out blistering guitar solos, Dave locks in a soulful, funky rhythm with tight syncopated comping reflective of Dave‘s love of James Brown and The Meters. Dave has the honor of playing with some great local musicians.
If you go check out the DRB live you will likely find Bret Carlson laying down a fat groove on bass. Bob Paluccio lends his high energy, ultra versatile skills on drums. Marcus Monteiro often soars above the mix on saxophone with a virtuosity and authenticity rarely heard with such finesse. Heather Twiss is the icing on the cake with soulful, explosive vocals reminiscent of Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Rait and Eva Cassidy.
They say that the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. This could not be more true for this band as each member adds to the natural chemistry that makes this band a perfect synthesis of soul, energy, and groove.
The Dave Richardson Band has recently focussed it's efforts on helping individuals recovering from chronic psychiatric illness by contributing to an innovative program called Studio 35. Fellowship Health Resources (a nonprofit mental health agency) has launched Studio 35 to promote the use of music and the arts to aid individuals in recovery. Studio 35 has already provided some exciting opportunities for individuals recovering from psychiatric illness to perform and share their art with others.
